How a sorting project is set up

It begins with a defect list, not a vague instruction. You define which flaws make a unit rejectable — a scratch past a certain length, a failed switch, an open seam — ideally with photos or a boundary sample. From the defect rate found at inspection, the coordinator calculates how many checker-days the lot needs and quotes a fixed fee covering supervision, verification and reporting.

Who does the work, and how it is verified

Factory hands normally perform the physical sorting and rework, while CGF inspectors set the pass criteria, train the line on day one, and audit the output continuously. Repairable units — a missing screw, a re-sewn seam, a re-polished surface — are corrected; anything beyond repair is quarantined and counted, never quietly repacked.

  • Every unit judged against the agreed defect photographs, not memory
  • Rework methods supervised so the fix does not create a new flaw
  • Repacking and relabelling rebuilt to your carton and barcode rules
  • A closing report with before-and-after photos, tallies and a re-check result

Who pays for the labour?

That is negotiated between you and the supplier — factories routinely absorb rework costs when the defect is theirs — but the supervision fee is yours, quoted up front. What matters commercially is that the paperwork proves which units were faulty and how many were recovered.

Can sorting run away from the factory floor?

Yes. When goods have already moved to a forwarder's warehouse or a bonded store, the team works there instead, and for stubborn defects a partner facility with proper benches and lighting can be used. The FAQ page answers more practical questions about booking and reporting.

How fast can a team start?

Days, not weeks. Trained checkers are recruited locally near the site, so once the defect list and fee are agreed, a full-time line can usually start within two to three working days anywhere in the main industrial provinces.

Sorting is the recovery step; prevention is cheaper. A strict final random inspection catches problems while correction is still the factory's problem, and since 2017 CGF's 50+ certified inspectors have contained failed lots like these as part of 3,000+ QC projects across mainland China.
