What the category includes

Everything that plugs in, lights up or carries a charge: LED lighting and drivers, kitchen and household appliances, audio and visual equipment, chargers and power supplies, automotive electronics, telecom accessories and the components behind them. The Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze Delta hold most of the supply base, which is why inspectors there work these product families daily. All of them share one property: a defect invisible on the bench becomes a return, a fire risk or a customs seizure in the field.

Typical defects in electrical and electronic goods

  • Dead-on-arrival units: cold solder joints, loose connectors, damaged cables
  • Wrong plug type, voltage rating or switch marking for the destination market
  • Overheating, noise or vibration discovered only during a run test
  • Missing or incorrect safety markings, rating labels and warning text
  • Incomplete accessories: manuals, remote controls, mounting kits or batteries
  • Dirty or scratched housings from unguarded line handling

Functional failures dominate the statistics, so checkpoints weight function and safety far more heavily than appearance.

What the inspection focuses on

Sampled units are powered up and run for the agreed duration, with attention on earthing, cable anchorage, switch action and temperature behaviour. Each unit is checked against the destination-market requirements written into your specification — plug, voltage, frequency and label language — and internal packing is verified so accessories and manuals actually ship with every box.

Can inspectors run electrical safety tests on site?

Yes, to the extent factory equipment allows: earth continuity, hi-pot and leakage checks are commonly witnessed when the line has the instruments, and inspectors record the readings. Formal certification testing belongs in an accredited lab — see our laboratory testing coordination page for how that is arranged.

Which details must be fixed before the visit?

The destination country, plug standard, rated voltage and label language. An inspector cannot judge "wrong plug" without knowing the market, so these four lines in the booking decide most of the electrical checklist.

A typical programme pairs a mid-production check with a final random inspection before shipment. Bookings are confirmed with a fixed-fee quote within one working day, English reports follow within 24 hours, and product inspection explains how the AQL sampling behind those verdicts works.
