How a supplier search runs, step by step

You start with a brief — product description, target price, order volume and any certifications the market requires. Candidates are drawn from the industrial clusters that genuinely build your category, from Yiwu's general-merchandise halls to Shenzhen's electronics parks, then screened on paper: business licence scope, export history and whether the company profile holds up on a video call.

What on-site verification adds

The shortlist is where visits earn their cost. A local team member walks each candidate site unannounced, photographs the real address, and records what is actually on the floor — which machines, how many workers, whether the showroom product is made there or bought elsewhere. Where a claimed workshop turns out to be an office block, that ends the candidacy immediately: cheaper to learn now than after the deposit.

What happens after a supplier is chosen?

Order small first, and keep the proof chain tight: a pilot order checked on site, a factory audit if volumes will grow, then scheduled inspections on every production run. Yes. Canton Fair and similar events are efficient for first meetings; a bilingual team member can pre-schedule visits, translate on the stand, and follow promising leads with factory verification the same week.
